Lancaster's Home For Muscle Cars

A Community Passionate About Muscle Cars

We know alot about muscle cars, but more importantly
we are PASSIONATE about muscle cars!

Our love of cars is one of the reasons we get out of bed in the morning!

Our founder, Matt, has personally bought and sold hundreds of muscle cars for customers all over the tri-state area and beyond.

When Lancaster Muscle’s sister company, Auto Traders International moved into a new location in downtown Lancaster, PA, it expanded our capabilities… and our dreams! Our new property features a full service center and spacious body shop, and needless to say, we immediately started to tinker and “build” our own cars.

Always more to learn.

We’ve got a lot of experience on our team.

But, let’s be real, we still have a lot to learn. We’re devoted to always learning and growing in our service.

We want to better service our horsepower-packed companions and while serving their fascinating drivers, aka our clients.

The Lancaster Muscle Team

Matt’s story:

Hi, I’m Matt, I’m weird, and I talk to cars.
Matt Gibbel Why? Because cars are like people, they have personality and a past. Some cars you meet and you would be ok never meeting them again. Some cars just need a little bit of love, and other cars are loved so much they are simply a joy to spend time with.

As founder of Lancaster Muscle, my vision is to create a community of people who are passionate about the cars. Cars bring us together. Literally and figuratively. I love cars and the feeling I get when I’m driving an awesome car. Awesome cars come in all shapes and sizes! When people see a Lancaster Muscle goal I want them to say 2 words: “Thats Awesome!”

I love watching customers’ response to muscle. A lot of people who come onto our lot are like a kid in a candy store and the experience is so different with a lot less walls when you’re buying a toy vs being an “everyday” car.

In Production

In these videos, you’ll have a front seat look into our shop as we build, restore, and modify muscle cars to new levels of awesomeness.

Current Projects:

As we build cars we are filming the process and will have a lot of video content. Something about ‘follow us to see what we’re working on next’ could be a good catch. We’re finishing up a 2014 Mustang GT right now and then starting on a 1978 Bronco restore.

About Lancaster Muscle

Lancaster Muscle was birthed out of the struggles of 2020.

2019 ended with a horrible business deal that cost Matt Gibbel basically every dime he had but through the process he was able to move his first company, Auto Traders International LTD, to a much bigger property. Then COVID hit. Just as we were getting going we shutdown because of Covid-19 and Matt had to close the company and let everyone go. For 2 months he came into an empty dealership, sat in his office and called as many people as he could think of in order to figure out some kind of plan and path forward in hopes of not losing even more.

Times were uncertain to say the least. During shutdown, Matt figured he would probably just have to sell the property or maybe lease it to someone else. But, there was one thing that happened that kept inspiring hope.

That one thing, was actually three people. Three employees kept coming into the shop everyday saying that they still wanted to work.

In May 2020, and after months of shutdown, Matt recalls driving home and calling his brother.

Matt shared that he had 3 people who just didn’t want to quit. His brother said “well… maybe you should reopen.” So, the first week of June, our office manager, detail manager, body shop manager and a body shop tech, walked onto the shop floor ready to reopen.

In previous years we had always had sports cars on the lot. With an empty lot, it felt so weird to not drive Mustangs or Camaros around with clients. But, one day Matt was at the auction and saw a gorgeous black Mustang GT. Only 4,000 miles. The car was literally still brand new!

"We didn’t really have the money. It had ugly wheels and some cheesy aftermarket parts. "

We didn’t really have the money. It had ugly wheels and some cheesy aftermarket parts.

However, As Matt walked around the car he realized something.
We now had a mechanic shop. We have a full body shop. We can turn this car into anything we want! But, as the car rolled onto the auction block, Matt decided he was getting this car. As prices flew, Matt stayed the highest bidder, but in the end the seller wouldn’t let the car go.

Disappointed, Matt figured it wasn’t meant to be.  After sticking around auction for a while, Matt started walking to the door when he saw the same Mustang come into the lane. Round two.

He walked up figuring it was pointless, but when the gavel ended the sale, Matt walked away with a new set of keys to the Mustang GT ($500 less than he had previously bid)!

Newly inspired, Matt got the Mustang back to the lot and told everyone “we’re going to build this car”.  That’s when it all came together…

That’s when it all came together...

A few days later Matt was telling his wife about the Mustang project.

He shared his vision to build awesome cars with the new space, the people and the tools to do it.

His wife’s response was, “What would you call this project?”

“Lancaster Muscle,” Matt said. Her face lit up as she said “that is awesome!”.

That was all the confirmation Matt needed!
